Tank Lifespan

Most water heater tanks last 8-12 years. If your tank has not been maintained, leaks, is making knocking noises, has rusty or cloudy water, it may be time for a water heater replacement.

Going Pro

Box stores offer some of the same brands we carry. However, the parts on our contractor models are of higher quality than those you can buy yourself. The professional installation provides you with a better tank and a better warranty.

Tank vs. Tankless

A tankless heater will save you money over time, about 45-60% fewer energy thanks to its top energy efficiency. It has a longer life span, about 20 years, and takes up less space. On the downside, a tankless heater will cost around three times the cost of a traditional tank. Furthermore, the system may struggle to keep up when running simultaneous water, such as a shower at the same time as laundry. It also won’t last as long if you have hard water.

High-Efficiency Tank

While tankless heaters far exceed the energy efficiency of high-efficiency tanks, they’ll still save you money over time with their 10-20% energy savings. This might be an excellent in-between water heater replacement option with the price point at around two times the cost of a traditional tank and the same 8-12 year life span.

Rebates and Incentives

Both Consumers Energy and DTE are offering rebates of up to $100 on high-efficiency models. Sharon’s files this rebate on your behalf.
